Good job Wendy! I'm still waiting for my attorney to clear me to write...basically I'm almost there (settlement approved, just need the check in my hand!). Fortunately, I'm getting around just fine right now and hope to toe the line at Boise 70.3 next month.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be writing soon.

I finished! I was hoping to read an update that you are in rehab, or getting back into exercise and training since it's May but I know you can't blog about much regarding your injury. The swim was brutal for me but I didn't quit. It was cold (yes cold in May in TX what a surprise) and I had no wetsuit and it was choppy as hell. I struggled through it but finished. Can't wait until next year to get a better time. I've gotta save for a road bike and will just stay in shape with riding and swimming but not really "training". I hope you are back at it and soon, too.

Thanks Ryan! I just gotta start somewhere, right? Crawl, walk, run they say. Wow 45 min is huge. Finishing my first one will be a big accomplishment for me in itself and then I can see where I go from there. It's been a challenge training (I'm a single mom w/2 kids) but I'm making it work, just gotta stay consistent. I'll have to pop back on and let you know how it went (about 60 days to go!)

Right on, Dr. James (btw, what is your medical specialty?) I did the race in 2010, so lower 60s was close!

Thanks Wendy. I really appreciate that my blog can be helpful. I miss writing it but have been advised by my attorney to lay low on anything else pertaining to my case. The mere fact that you are at the starting line means you are NOT making a fool of yourself. You showed up. You did the work. The actual event is for you to ENJOY the benefits of that work. Learn, laugh and smile on your first triathlon. Don't worry about a time on the clock. Focus instead on how you feel in the race. And absorb everything so you can make notes where you can improve next time. I eventually shaved more than 45 minutes off my Olympic distance tri time from my first tri to the last one I did before the accident. You can do the same.

I just moved to Austin with bike paths galore and reading about this really scares me to get on the road and ride. I would only do protected paths when I lived in Dallas. I'm also training for my first tri in May even though it's nothing compared to an Ironman, it's a start for me. I hope you heal fast and can get back on a bike very soon. Thanks for your blog here - keeps me motivated. Praying I don't make a fool of myself on May 5. ha.

Thanks Trevor. Unknown if she was on her phone at this time. According to police report and recorded insurance statement, no. So that's interesting. BTW, loved your blog. Those sunrise shots are sweet. Very cool. Good luck this season! Stay safe.
